ICT

The school has good ICT resources. There are currently six suites of computers with smaller clusters around the site. They are all networked so that students working on any computer are able to access the work from their area.

All students are given email access. The school is also wirelessly networked so that students and staff working on laptops are able to access the Internet and Intranet. All staff have laptops.

Library

The school library is staffed by a highly qualified Librarian and her assistant. It has an excellent established range of books, and has been developed into a comprehensive Learning Resource Centre with the addition of DVDs and video playback facilities, audio tapes and a suite of 16 computers linked to our network which gives access to CD Roms and a wide range of programmes.

Students receive library induction in Year 7. The Librarian works closely with all students to develop their research skills. There is an encouragement to read for pleasure through a variety of library clubs: there is a Carnegie Medal shadowing group every year; and students participate, with considerable success, in the ‘Kids Lit Quiz’.

Sited close to our Sixth Form base, the Library is open to students throughout the day. It is also open and staffed for an hour before Registration and another hour at the end of the day. This gives students access to a valuable resource for research and homework activities. The Library is also open at break and lunch-time.

Sports

There are extensive Sports facilities including a swimming pool, Fitness Suite, Sports Hall, Gym and a wide range of playing fields.

Canteen

The school canteen is open before school and at Break and lunch-time. Students may choose from a wide range of snacks and meals at reasonable prices.
