Faith and Ethics is an exciting, stimulating and demanding experience that engages pupils in a journey of discovery. Specialist teachers provide opportunities for experiential and intellectual learning. Philosophical debate enhances spiritual and moral development and encourages pupils to engage in their own search for meaning and purpose as well as to enhance their understanding of the beliefs, experiences, responses and practices of others. The Faith and Ethics programme at Tile Hill Wood provides pupils with a course that is designed to stimulate consideration and respect for the religious and moral stance of others, while improving appreciation of their own values and principles. Pupils are encouraged to reflect on, evaluate and practice what they have learnt. Key Stage 3At Key Stage 3 pupils study units which cover the six major world religions: Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Sikhism, Hinduism and Buddhism. They are exposed to a series of themes relevant to the modern world like charity, peace and justice. Key Stage 4At Key Stage 4 pupils study AQA Philosophy and Ethics. This includes the way that religion is expressed in society through music, art and media, and the philosophical questions relevant to faith and belief. The presumption is that pupils will take a full GCSE in Year 11. Key stage 5At Key Stage 5 we offer AQA Philosophy and Ethics AS/A2, with papers in Philosophy of Religion and Religion and Ethics. This builds upon the work done in previous years, so that there is some familiar material but examined in much greater depth at this key stage. StaffMs Waseme |
